Guan Bo Tai Chi -- Not Bagua, but a fundamental Tai Chi form. Demonstrated by Sifu Bryant Fong. To download this video, you will need to join our Yahoo Message Board. It's free and is very quick.

Introduction Clip: These techniques were demonstrated at Land's End, in San Francisco. This specific location seen in the video is a former artillery emplacement, guarding the Golden Gate. Steep cliffs are on three sides, dropping precipitously to the violent waves of the Pacific Ocean. The Golden Gate Bridge is in view to the east.

Video One: Defense against an upper-gate (high) strike. The right hand is blocking, left hand striking.

Video Two: Defense against a same-hand grab from behind.

Video Three: Defense against an upper-gate strike. After the block, a push to a pressure area on the pelvis will cause the attacker to fly back or fall to the ground.

Video Four: Defense against a same-hand grab. The defender rotates the grabbed hand 180 degrees, palm up. The defender's left hand pushes behind the elbow of the attacker.

Video Five: Defense against a same-hand grab. The defender spins, breaks the attacker's arm, and throws the attacker to the ground.

Video Six: Defense against an upper-gate strike. The defender blocks with his right forearm. This block is also a pressure-point strike, numbing the attacker's arm. The defender then throws the attacker with strikes to the upper chest and a pressure area on the pelvis.

Video Seven: Defense against a low kick. The defender blocks the kick, then steps forward, striking the attacker in both the groin and throat.

Video Eight: Defense against a same-hand grab. The defender throws the attacker violently to the ground by kicking out the attacker's forward foot and striking to the upper chest area.

Video Nine: Defense against an upper-gate strike. The defender blocks, then strikes to the upper chest area. The force is directed forward and down, pushing the attacker away and to the ground.

Video Ten: Defense against a same-hand grab and reverse. Every Baguazhang technique has a counter. In this video the response to the grab is reversed, then reversed again.

The techniques above are a very small sample of the combat applications of Baguazhang.
